Welcome to the February 2012 edition of In Tune. Please note that the Feb clubnight is on the first Tuesday in Feb. This is due to Valentines day being on the second Tuesday and very few of us will be allowed out that night. Some of you may be aware of the “Mike Hawthorn Celebration”. This charity event is being organised by All Borders Motorsport to raise money for a new sports facility at Mike Hawthorns old school, Barfield, in Runfold. GMC are co-promoting the event and will be organising a short, navigational section of the route, leading up to the lunchtime halt in Newdigate. The event will start from the school and have a procession through Farnham, before heading out across Surrey to Newdigate, where the Mike Hawthorn collection is situated. After Lunch the cars will make their way back to Churt, where there is another collection of Mike Hawthorn cars & memorabilia for a supper and auction. Entry fee is just £35 (with £10 back for the first 50 interesting classics: modern or historic). Contact me for more details or email jonathan@hawthorns.co.uk. Annual subscriptions are now due.
